PERFECTLY PATTERNED

The pattern on pattern trend is big on the catwalk so it is about time we stole some for our homes too. Be brave and bold and put a Spring in your step.

We love old fashioned wallpaper. Goodbye magnolia.

Colour it coastal and get nautical for Spring.

Pop out some pattern

Don’t be afraid of clashing patterns and colours. We love this arty space.

Have a bit of fun with your desk space. Working shouldn’t have to be dull.

SPACED OUT

Forget joining the gym. Yoga bunnies hop over to HomeSense to make your spiritual space the perfect place to practice for the New Year. Namaste.

Spring is in full swing.

We don’t all have the luxury of this sort of space for our yoga practice but all you have to do is close your eyes and open the window and imagine you’re there.

Make your own little piece of peace with a handmade jam jar lantern. Ommmm.

Get out in the garden and practice your yoga in the fresh Spring air.

Flower Power! Get floral and release your inner hippie.

Get an Indian print for your sacred space. Try the diva Shiva.

Add a bit of Indian batik fabric or Asian influence to your peaceful place.

Try one of these typographic prints with your own mantra.

PEACE.

BEHIND THE SCENES FOR SPRING

We’re well ahead here at HomeSense. The team was out shooting the Spring campaign just before Christmas. Luckily we got a beautiful, crisp winter day with blue skies and great light for shooting stills.

Spring is in the air (even in December)

Location, location, location

Our production team found a great location in Kent. A wonderful old farmhouse with several outhouses and greenhouses to shoot our Spring product.

Meet the team

Here is our wonderful creative stylist Abigail and her lovely assistant Anita.

Here’s Anja our willing and able producer and her gorgeous assistant Boris.

“Hmmm not sure what that tea cosy is adding to the shot”.Photographer, marketing and art director reviewing the shots.

The writer (me!) is behind the camera, apart in this shot with my new friend.

It was ffffrreeezing out in the garden sheds without any heating. Might look like Spring but the weather didn’t feel like it.

ADD SOME COLOUR TO YOUR JANUARY

Mmmmm what a perfect combination. Colour co-ordination and stationary.

Check this out. A museum full of coloured dots. Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of colour.

Alexander Calder is one of my favourite artists. This is his inspiring studio full of colour.

Add some vibrant colour to your plain walls this month. Even if you just stick them up for a month on a white wall, you’ll be amazed at the difference it will make to the room. I do this in my kitchen.

Paint one wall this January and brighten up your bedroom. Be brave.

If you like colour, you’ll love the Pantone hotel. The perfect place to visit in a grey January.

House of the month. A happy Stockholm apartment. Bright white and fun pops of color.
